2026 Smart Waves call for projects

As part of the PSL flagship programme Smart Waves, this call aims to support collaborative, innovative, and high-risk/high-gain research projects in the field of waves, while fostering new collaborations within PSL.

Funding

Two types of funding are available:

• Postdoctoral fellowship (12 months): recruitment of a young researcher for a seed project involving at least two teams from two distinct PSL laboratories, with a balanced contribution and a pre-identified candidate at the time of submission.
• Equipment (from €20k to €31k): full or partial funding for equipment required for a collaborative seed project, also involving at least two teams from two distinct PSL laboratories.

Thematic areas

Projects must fall within one of the Smart Waves thematic axes and demonstrate scientific excellence, innovation, and strong complementarity between the teams involved:

• Information and complexity
• Communications, analogue computing and wavefront shaping
• Quantitative imaging
• Innovative materials for waves

Deadline (postdoc and equipment): June 12th, 2026 11:59pm (Paris time)

Application files for the calls for projects must be submitted via “Submit a Project” before the deadline.
